Psychic vs Medium
I followed in my mother’s footsteps with a career in banking. We didn’t have spiritual conversations until recently, as my mediumship practice unfolded. This morning, she mentioned feeling confused while watching a British detective movie set in the past, where the term "psychic" was used to describe someone doing what I do. She asked me why that was the case.
I explained that it's a big conversation, with as many opinions as there are people. However, I shared my perspective on the difference and the reasoning behind it, based on my understanding at the time.
A psychic is someone who reads the energy field of a person or object. People usually seek out a psychic when looking for answers about their current life or future, asking questions like, “Will I find love?” or “Will I change jobs?” She responded, “I would call that going to see a fortune teller.” We both laughed at that perspective. I hadn’t thought of it that way, but I acknowledged she was somewhat right.
I also pointed out that this type of information can be helpful for someone struggling and looking for a different perspective on their life. I explained that my expertise lies in working only with the spirit world, which defines the purity of mediumship.
I explained that I was having a soul-to-soul conversation with their person in spirit. I wasn’t pulling data; it was more an experience of trusting and listening to energy at a subtle level. During my sessions, I start by asking clients who they would like to connect with; however, I also give them the option not to share, allowing us to work with whoever joins in their highest and best good.
I have developed unspoken parameters with the spirit world, ensuring that I only work with one spirit per session. This approach typically brings forward the right loved one. I say "steps forward" because they are all present in the Oneness energy, with nowhere else to be. I feel that with this perspective, I never have to worry about the spirit showing up; it's super simple.
The spirit understands that I will relay whatever they provide without needing a list of requests, such as names, birthdates, relationships, or causes of death. I let the communication flow through me.
The session always begins with a few pieces of evidential information to identify the loved one. Then I ask, “Do you recognize this person?” If the answer is yes, we move on to whatever comes next from their loved ones. If the answer is no, I go back to request more evidence.
This concept represents what I mean by evidential mediumship. Every statement I make needs to be validated by my client with a "yes" or "no." My goal is for my client to leave the session feeling and knowing that their loved one was present and that their connection continues.
The information shared about the loved one's personality and memories cannot be fabricated or researched beforehand. This proves love and connection remain unbroken.
In the last five minutes of a session, I ask the spirit to convey a message to my client, during which the spirit typically discusses events in my client’s life, offering messages of love, support, and encouragement.
This is why I believe it is essential for the client to understand that I am an evidential medium and that, for the most part, I will be sharing information and memories about their loved one.
I love discussing spirit communication with my mom and our shared journey. We are opening and connecting on a deeper level.
